ERRATA: I mistakenly changed Zoe by John on the problem. When I say the ratio of Zoe to John is 5:8, it means 5 is for Zoe and 8 is for John. In the future this video will be recorded again. This mistake does not change the value of this video. Sorry for the inconvenience. There are many types of ratio problems. Some times the total amount of items both parts have does not change while some other exercises deal with change on the total amount (something is getting into the system or leaving the system). When ever is the case, we always try to solve by making some part of the problem be equal. To know what part should be the same is the core of the solution and for that we need to work on a parallel problem and then get it back to the original one. This is what amazes me on this type of exercise: If yo can't solve the way it is, then make some changes to a version of the exercise you CAN solve. Then come back and find the original solution. I invite you to sole this problem with me. Together we will have a great time talking about math while our minds get flooded with stimulus 😉. ON THIS PROBLEM, there are 2 person with books: Zoe and John. Then one is going to give the other some books. Since one person is giving part of their books to the other, the TOTAL is not changing. This is the most simple type of ration problems we will see it here. On this video we will: 1️⃣ Being able to turn the exercise into another one easier to solve ! 2️⃣ Making the total amount the same using LCM (Lowest Common Multiple) 3️⃣ Relating our model problem with the real problem 🔥 Content : 0:00 - Explaining the problem 1:20 - Starting to solve 2:30 - Making the TOTAL the same - LCM 3:20 - Working on a parallel problem 4:30 - Making sure it's all correct ! 7:00 - Going back to the original problem ! 9:00 - Answer 9:20 - Thanks 🙏, subscribe 👍 and see you next time 😀
