Hi🧚🏻‍♀️🍄✨ Although this vlog was filmed nine months ago, back in January, I still feel compelled to share the unforgettable adventures I had in Donegal! Donegal is one of the most beautiful regions in Ireland, and I’ve been fortunate enough to visit multiple times throughout my life. However, this trip was particularly special because I shared it with my love, showing him the breathtaking sights of Dún na nGall! We drove from Belfast, a journey of about two to three hours. The thatched cottage where we stayed was utterly charming, with its whitewashed walls, traditional red door, and quaint thatched roof—all quintessential features of a classic Irish cottage. We stayed in the Gaeltacht village of Loch an Iúir, a place my mother and sister frequented in their teens for summer camps. These camps, held in the Gaeltacht, immerse children from all over Ireland in the Irish language by staying with local families and attending Irish-speaking schools. I, too, had spent time at the Gaeltacht in Machaire Rabhartaigh, a place we later revisited on this trip. On the first day, we ventured to Mullaghderg Beach with the intention of going for a cold swim. However, we discovered that the beach wasn’t safe for swimming due to hidden currents, so we opted for a leisurely stroll instead. The beach was stunning, with its crashing waves, mussels and shells clinging to the rocks, rock pools, and massive boulders. Donegal’s rugged coastline is unlike any other—wild, raw, and utterly captivating. That evening, we played the Stardew Valley board game, enjoyed a delicious creamy salmon pasta, and sipped some white wine. The next day, we set out for Aranmore Island. In hindsight, not taking the car across was a mistake, as it's essential for exploring the whole island. Nevertheless, we made the most of it, walking to a beach that, rather than sand, was filled with smooth, polished stones. The tranquility was unparalleled—it felt as if we had the entire island to ourselves. The walk to the beach was equally delightful, passing by the ruins of old cottages, a goat grazing in a field, and friendly locals who greeted us with warm smiles as we hiked along the narrow road. The island’s charm lay in its simplicity and seclusion. The highlight of the trip, though, was the sighting of dolphins on our return journey. This was undoubtedly one of the best moments of my year! I can’t recall a time that felt quite as magical. The captain pointed to the water and honked the horn, and we looked out to see four dolphins leaping alongside the boat! Even more enchanting was the baby dolphin—a pale blue little one—jumping joyfully with its family. They twirled, twisted, and danced in the water, clearly reveling in the moment. That evening, we dined at the Lobster Pot, where the seafood was exceptionally fresh and flavorful. On the third day, we visited Machaire Rabhartaigh Beach. We were blessed with good weather—the sky was a brilliant blue, and the temperature was just right. We wandered through the dunes and along the shore before driving to Horn Head, a place I had never been before. The scenery was absolutely breathtaking—the jagged cliffs and dramatic coastlines created a cinematic atmosphere. Sheep dotted the rugged landscape, and mist clung to the high cliffs, adding to the sense of isolation and wonder. That evening, we went to Leo’s Tavern, where we enjoyed a delightful meal. On our final day, we explored Glenveagh National Park. The castle was magnificent, and the grounds felt nothing short of magical—it was as though we had stepped into a fairytale!
