Descrizione della chiesa: La Chiesa di San Tommaso (o Parrocchia di San Tommaso Apostolo) è ubicata ad Albignasego, paese alle porte di Padova, ed è una delle chiese più antiche del paese. Prima del 1445 nel sito dell'attuale chiesa se ne trovava una più piccola con annesso un cimitero e, sotto il patronato dei marchesi Obizzi, fu ristrutturata (e la cappella maggiore fu dedicata proprio alla nobile famiglia). La nuova chiesa rimase in piedi fino alla fine dell'Ottocento, quando la popolazione aumentò drasticamente e quindi, nel 1890, fu abbattuta e ricostruita più grande sotto la guida dell'ingegnere Zanovello, i lavori terminarono 10 anni dopo. La chiesa presenta uno stile eclettico e comprende i motivi dell'arco trionfale, un oculo circolare ed un portale arrotondato, il tutto contornato con uno stile Liberty. Anche nell'abside vi sono degli affreschi, questi ultimi rappresentano i 4 evangelisti. Description of the church: The Church of San Tommaso (or Parish of St Thomas the Apostle) is located in Albignasego, a village just outside Padua, and is one of the oldest churches in the country. Before 1445 on the site of the present church there was a smaller one with a graveyard and, under the patronage of the Marquis Obizzi, it was restored (and the main chapel was dedicated to the noble family). The new church remained standing until the end of the nineteenth century, when the population increased drastically and then, in 1890, was demolished and rebuilt larger under the guidance of engineer Zanovello, the work ended 10 years later. The church has an eclectic style and includes the motifs of the triumphal arch, a circular oculus and a rounded portal, all surrounded by an Art Nouveau style. Also in the apse there are frescoes, that ones representing the 4 evangelists.
