In this concluding chapter of our Carrock Mine trilogy, we venture above ground to explore the breathtaking yet treacherous landscape of Brandy Gill. Following the cascading waterfalls that give the Waterfall Vein its name, we search for remnants of the long-abandoned Brandy Gill Mine while uncovering the geological wonders hidden in this remote corner of the Caldbeck Fells. Chapters: [0:00] Opening Credits [0:42] The Story So Far [1:40] Map [2:39] Trek Begins [4:09] Waterfalls [11:40] Brandy Gill Mine [19:41] Poddy and Burt [22:00] The Old Mine [29:47] One Last Explore [35:36] Sign Off, Gandalf’s Cousin and Coming Soon This journey takes us from the thunderous 14-meter waterfalls carving through volcanic rock to the overgrown ruins of Poddy Gill's forgotten lead workings. We examine the stunning mineralogy exposed by centuries of water erosion, including rare tungsten and lead formations that made this area famous among Victorian miners and modern collectors alike. While our Radiacode detector hints at uranium's presence in the area, the full story of Carrock's radioactive secrets remains frustratingly out of reach - perhaps buried too deep, or removed during the mine's active years. Still, the adventure rewards us with something equally valuable: a profound appreciation for how nature relentlessly reclaims these industrial landscapes, transforming abandoned mines into cascading waterfalls and crumbling ruins into habitats for wildlife. This video completes our Carrock Mine series, but the hunt continues elsewhere. Special thanks to Ben for his invaluable expertise underground, and to our viewers who've followed this journey from the first surface explorations to these final waterfall climbs.
