Robin Adamschak (Vario team pilot) flies an electric powered Vario Bell 429 during the 25th Annual IRCHA Jamboree. Robin's flights consists of compulsory and optional maneuvers which are observed and graded by three judges. A "Caller" alerts the judges at the beginning and end of each maneuver. These flying scores are added to scores earned during the static inspection of the model and the documentation used to substantiate fidelity to the actual full scale ship being modeled. The total of all scores determines placement in the contest. The wind conditions added a challenge to this flight, and all flights conducted that day. Take a look at the trees during the nose-in hover maneuver toward the end of the flight. The fixed wing aircraft seen at around 5:50 is full scale, not a model, and is approaching a nearby airport. The long focal length lens in use compresses the scene, making the fixed wing appear closer than it actually was. Robin earned a 1st Place finish in the IRCHA 2014 scale competition.
