Even without the S rank requirement, the initial part with the cavalry is still really annoying to deal with. Most of them don't go down in a single combat so there might not be enough manpower to take them out on turn 1, that's not including the archer near the ballista that's ready to snipe off whoever got attacked. After taking out the initial enemy cavalry, there are still more enemies to deal with from the left and below the starting position. So there isn't enough time to take a break for the first few turns before you finally deal with all of them. Once that is done, it suddenly became too easy, because nothing actually happens while more allies appear, until your party get close enough to Helman, who will call for reinforcements, mainly from the right to force your party to charge toward him straightaway in order to avoid more combat. Good thing Helman will charge out on his own, making it easier to obtain the S rank requirement. If it wasn't for Artemisa, I don't think I can even deal with the initial foes, let alone obtaining S rank for the chapter.
