Gary Hedrick - - 2025 W.A.S. Legend (Action Sports) Gary Hedrick’s life has been a high-flying journey through the world of acrobatics, tumbling, trampoline, diving, and live performance. Beginning his tumbling career in 1967 at the Maverick Club in Amarillo, Texas, Gary quickly rose to national prominence, becoming a 9-time National Champion in tumbling, trampoline, and double mini-trampoline. He earned a place on three U.S. National Teams, was named a 3-time All-American, and placed third twice in World Championships in tumbling. He also captured a first-place world title in Double Mini Trampoline and was honored as West Texas Athlete of the Year three times. Gary’s coaching career began in 1976 and spanned decades, from the Maverick Club to Top of Texas Tumblers, Metroplex Gymnastics, and the Palaestra in Dallas. He coached countless athletes in tumbling, trampoline, and double mini, influencing generations with his skill and passion. Beyond gymnastics, Gary's adventurous spirit led him to professional cliff diving, performing with the American Eagles high diving team across the globe—including stints in Hong Kong and Taiwan. As a featured diver and trampoline comedian, he thrilled audiences from 100-foot towers with daring dives and humor. Gary's charisma extended into the world of character performance. From the Amarillo Armadillo to the beloved Wildcat Willie of World Championship Wrestling, his work as a mascot spanned sports, hospitals, charity events, and international games. As Wildcat Willie, he partnered with the Make-A-Wish Foundation and won the Scottish Rite Children’s Hospitals Celebrity Mascot Golf Tournament. Gary also toured with the Bud Light Daredevils, the world-famous acrobatic slam dunk team, performing in 12 countries, all 30 NBA arenas, and over 50 colleges—earning ESPN features and national sports highlight spots. With a career that has included Action Sports, Diving, Gymnastics, and live entertainment, Gary Hedrick has performed in front of, or been televised to, over 2.1 billion people.
