This short 6 min. video highlights the trail building efforts of the Long Distance Trail Crew in 2025. We worked on two major projects: The NY Long Path on Tallman Mountain and the Appalachian Trail on Arden Mountain. The first was completing the rebuilding of the NY Long Path on Tallman Mountain that began in 2023. We started that project on 6/2/2023, but a major storm forced a pause on 8/13/2023. We returned on 6/14/2024 and worked continuously to the end of our year, 12/8/2024. We were back on 3/21/25 and completed this project on 8/10/2025, with an official opening and ribbon cutting on 9/6/2025. The second is the rehabilitation of a portion of the Appalachian Trail, called Agony Grind, on Arden Mountain in Harriman State Park,. This a very steep and dangerous section needing over 200 steps and numerous crib-walls to be built. We started on 8/22/2025, ending our year on 12/7/2025, and almost made it to the top.
