Time attack of Tropical Resort 1 in Sonic Generations 3DS, with Classic Sonic, in 1:21.94, ran on my new 3DS XL capture card. After getting a consistent burst setup for its segments, stage became pretty fun to run through. This honestly isn't a very optimized run but with the bullshittery of the first three comments in the first 15 seconds of the stage, I can't be assed to be honest. 0:07 - You can jump later than I do, just when the upcoming incline starts going down to cut down airtime then immediately hit the next boost pad, but it's incredibly dumb 0:11 - After these diagonal springs, you sometimes randomly land before the zipline with a lot of extra speed. Holding down-right the entire time sometimes works. Not doing that sometimes works. Pressing left/right sometimes works. Pressing nothing sometimes works. I don't fucking know. I did not get lucky with that here. 0:19 - After jumping over these balloons, you sometimes randomly get extra speed through these loops. I did not get lucky with that here. 0:23 - The ideal timestamp to hit this vertical spring seems to be around a 0:22 in-game time, but it only happens if you nail all three of the above perfectly and randomly, which is incredibly dumb. I just settled for a sub-23 to keep going because I didn't want to get stuck on this level forever. 0:24 - After the spring, you can basically hold up and mash X until you get two short vertical hops, then buffer a full charge and hold right, then release the full burst while holding up. This comfortable yeets me into the wheel quickly. 0:35 - Have to refresh burst here, which is cycle-dependent. 0:54 - I'm honestly not sure what the best way to handle this is. A consistent way is to assume your burst will run out, drop down after 2 hops, and get hit by the fire so you can spindash. I'm generally too fast for that to work out though, so I drop down between some background trees to a spot where I can't get hit, then rev a spindash without taking damage. 1:08 - Carrying burst all the way to the top looks really difficult but it's surprisingly consistent. The hard part is hitting the TOP of the second green rocket - the skip still works if you hit the pink rocket or the bottom/side of the green rocket, but you have to do two jumps to refresh rocket instead of one.
