This weekend, I traveled alone in Japan. Surprisingly, everyone there was a foreigner except me. And when I was having a buffet at a restaurant in the hotel, a tourist mistook me for a staff member and asked me when the Nagaimo would be served. So I asked an actual staff member when it would come on behalf of the tourist, and then I told her it would be served soon, in English. At that moment, I felt deeply that I was truly alive. The theme changes a little, but today I got a message from a friend I met through a working holiday. When I exchanged messages with him in English, I felt alive again. Recently, I haven’t felt that way, and I’ve felt bored with life. Because of that, these two incidents triggered my desire to go abroad! Actually, I had already decided to go abroad, but I couldn’t decide when. I was afraid of quitting my current job because it offered better benefits than most others. But I finally made up my mind to quit and go abroad after finishing the next busiest period. Benefits will definitely reassure us and provide a comfortable life. But for me, pursuing my life goals and what I truly want to do is more important than living a comfortable life. I want to choose mistakes over boredom. (This phrase comes from Channel, and it’s one of my favorite quotes from her.) I’m really excited to go and prepare for this journey.
