MEDIA RELEASE: Arrest made in connection with Aggravated Assault Investigation on Gledhill Street Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Investigators arrest a suspect in connection with an aggravated assault on Gledhill Street. The incident occurred on January 16, 2025, at 2:45 p.m., Thursday. On Thursday, Deputies responded to the intersection of Gledhill Street and Willow Lane in reference to a person down. When deputies arrived on the scene, they came in contact with a male unresponsive lying on the ground suffering from a head injury. Paramedics arrived on the scene and the male was transported to a medical facility. According to medical staff, the victim is listed in critical condition. The victim was identified as thirty-seven-year-old Maurice Jerome Butler. Investigators were notified about this incident. After further investigation, it was reported by witnesses that the victim was in an altercation with another male. Investigators were able to obtain video of a gray vehicle fleeing the scene. Investigators were able to identify the suspect as forty-five-year-old Akbar Mohammed Harclerode of Macon. On Thursday, January 23, 2025, members of the Gang Unit, Criminal Intelligence Unit, and Special Intelligence Unit were notified by the Criminal Investigation Division that the vehicle was spotted near Berkener Avenue. Investigators began canvassing the area and the Criminal Intelligence Unit notified investigators that the vehicle was spotted in the area of Bailey Avenue. The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Gang Unit attempted to initiate a traffic stop on the vehicle, but the driver refused to stop. After the driver abandoned the vehicle, and a brief foot pursuit, investigators were able to apprehend the driver. The driver was identified as forty-five-year-old Akbar Mohammed Harclerode. Harclerode was transported to Investigations Headquarters for further investigation before being transported to the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center. Harclerode has been charged with Aggravated Assault and Aggravated Battery. At this time, he is being held without bond.
