Each year on Holy Saturday during the Easter Vigil, thousands are baptized into the Catholic Church in the United States. Parishes welcome these new Catholics through the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults. OCIA is a structured program for people desiring to know more about the Catholic Church. This program is a faith journey where we will explore Catholic tradition, teachings, and spiritual development. Each week is a new opportunity to learn more about Jesus Christ and the Christian way of life. St. Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Church welcomes everyone, no matter where you are, to join us as we journey deeper into our faith and relationship with God. The Holy Eucharist is life. This was a very hard concept for the people following Jesus and it remains difficult for many people nearly two thousand years later. I believe that everyone can look back through their lives and find those moments where God has touched them personally, forever altering their lives for the better. We receive many such miracles, but seldom have the awareness to recognize God's gift as it's happening. Catholic people witness a miracle every week during Mass when we celebrate Holy Communion. The Eucharist bridges the gap between the physical world and Heaven by preparing our souls to live with God. It's a real change that we can see and feel. There is no substitute.
