According to their website, “Smokehead Sherry Bomb is a peaty Islay single malt that has well and truly earned its name. Blasted by rich, sweet and spicy Spanish sherry casks, it has emerged as fiery, explosive, heavy hitting dram that has even turned our skull red.” While this expression was originally launched in early 2020, I’m still seeing a few of these on store shelves. Retail pricing is around $65-$75 and it was bottled at 48% abv. Of course, there is no mention as to which distillery it is from, but my guess would have to be Ardbeg. When I first tried this bottle, I was impressed not by its sherry influence (I probably wouldn't call this a “sherry bomb” personally), but at how well integrated those notes were with the base malt character. So, if you enjoy peated whiskies that drink great right out of the bottle and wouldn’t mind a little boost in the red fruit profile, this may be the perfect dram for you. Moving ahead in 2021, my goal is to release a new video every 2 weeks (on Thursdays) on YouTube! I will be using my Patreon channel as a launch platform, so if you want to get a 2-week head start on seeing the reviews and hunting bottles, join us at www.patreon.com/liquorhound. Of course, my Patrons also get that review add-free before the YouTube launch, access to the private review library, can message me directly, get bonus reviews, secret buying tips, and when I find special things to giveaway, I tend to just toss them into the Patreon winds. But regardless of where you’re watching, I want to thank all of my viewers! It’s that combination of my Patrons and the YouTube ad views that have allowed me to keep my independence and self-purchase the bottles I review. By doing so, I hope you feel safe in knowing you’re getting my 100% unbiased and honest opinions. As of February 2021, my current bottle count is over 2,500. I am a Certified Specialist of Spirits and have also been accredited by the Tequila Regulatory Council (CRT). I've been actively collecting for more than two decades and what started as a small basic home bar has transformed (with the help and understanding of my wonderful wife) into this collection and a new career at Saints Alley Spirits. Thanks for watching and remember to please drink responsibly. Cheers!
