CR NSU52 Negotiates The Triangle At Woolshed Flat - Pichi Richi Explorer May25

Heritage Train Tuesday. The Pichi Richi Railway The Pichi Richi Railway ( https://www.pichirichirailway.org.au/... ) runs the Pichi Richi Explorer usually at least once a month during running months. The only way to be really sure is to check the Timetable on their website linked above. Normally the Explorer is hauled by a WAGR W Class loco but unfortunately on this occasion no steam loco qualified driver was available so CR NSU Class loco 52 is allocated to today's train so this video is earmarked for Heritage Train Tuesday. Having arrived at Woolshed Flat with the Pichi Richi Explorer, NSU52 is now turned on the triangle. Listen carefully, the squeal of the flange against the rail is easy to hear but if you listen more closely you can hear the grinding of metal wheel on metal rail. As the axles do not have a differential and the curves are so tight, one or more wheels will be rotating at not the same speed as the rail is passing under so something has to give. The driver's assistant also gets a bit of a work out as he positions the points appropriately. Heritage Train Tuesday is set aside for any diesel hauled heritage trains, including rail motors. It differs from Tourist Train Thursday in that the train is run by a Not For Profit organisation like a Museum. If the Picnic Train or THNSW Steam train is replaced with a diesel, then it will appear as a Heritage Train Tuesday video. ------------------------------------------- The below listed Locos can also be seen in the linked videos.
