The Pichi Richi Railway celebrates a milestone on July 23rd 2023, with the railway bringing joyful memories to railfans and passengers with Steam, Diesel and Railcars services through the Pichi Richi Pass for 50 years with the Society established in 1973. Back in April, we captured the second Afghan Express of the year hauled by ex-Western Australian Government Railways Steam Engine W934 between Port Augusta and Quorn. The Pichi Richi Railway has been committed to preserving the heritage of the South Australian Railways, Commonwealth Railways, Western Australian Government Railways and the Silverton Tramway for the last 50 years, with volunteers and members a vital part of the railway's progress with much achieved over the last half-century. There's still much more that the railway can offer, and we're certainly excited to see what it can do over the next 50 years!
