When her dreams start to blend into reality, Gwen feels she needs to go to Camp Alpine Lake to understand what her dreams are telling her, but comes to find a darker past. Black Phone 2 is, in my opinion, a good movie that we can see and understand how to make a sequel. (Yes, various other movies can be used to better fit this video. But, given that I'm reviewing movies I've seen, I'm using Black Phone 2. (Head over to my Instagram to see more spoiler-free reviews... and I'm far better at keeping up to date... relatively)). Anyway, Black Phone 2 is a worthy sequel because it checks out three boxes: don't destroy continuity, add a new element, and do not repeat the same story both structurally and thematically. Although there's no definitive way to write a sequel, and over the years, there have been various options, like continuing a story, spin-offs, passing the torch, etc, I believe you still require these three boxes. Black Phone 2 achieves this by continuing the story in a way that provides a different story, structurally and thematically speaking, all while providing a new element - The Grabber being able to interact with the real world. I do understand that Black Phone 2 has its flaws and problems. But I still enjoyed it.
