A mysterious film that appears to be related to the MoD (Ministry of Defence) and a 'PRB (Air) Film Unit', dating to the very late 1950s or possibly early 1960s I guess. It covers what is involved in the key trades that built houses at that time, with an employment/recruitment angle. Indeed, I notice that the commentator says a plasterer will require average intelligence for their job, whereas your hod carrier only requires a certain knack! Today I guess we would recognise the skill in all these trades, and the language would be appropriately deferential. But this film gives an insight into the perspectives of the time...which is what it is supposed to do. I love the way so many have a fag in their mouths as they work! An unedited glimpse of some of the sort of people that built this country. I had to cut about 90 seconds from the top because the sound was very poor (the density film track was not well printed at the top section) The only credits that appear are as follows: The Air Ministry of Defence PRB (Air) Film Unit The Greater London Council The Unit Construction Company No other credits appear in the original film. Original music from 70 years ago substituted with similar to avoid adverts!
