Pendle Hill - When A Simple Hill Walk Gets Serious

This time on WhenTheMountainsCall I was flying solo. We'd had a big dump of snow here in Lancashire so I was keen to get out into the hills and make the best of the conditions. As I was going on my own I didn't want to travel far and wanted a walk I was familiar with, so Pendle Hill was my walk of choice. I headed up from the Well Springs pub where the little ski centre is. From here is was a steep pull up on to the main path through some deep snow. I'd planned on getting all the way to the summit but it turned out the conditions had other ideas. This is a walk I've done countless times in all conditions and never had any issues. This time was very different though as the deep snow took me by surprise and caught me off guard. What followed was a little bit more of a serious adventure than I was expecting. Pendle Hill turned out to be quite a challenge.
