(10 Apr 1998) T/I: 10:40:28 An artist in Holland has published a newspaper - that contains no news at all. It doesn't have any sport, weather, features or advertising either. Not even a cover price. That's because it's completely blank.. stark white, from front to back page. Perhaps even more startling is the news that editor Hans Bossman has already attracted two subscribers for his no-news paper and nine for the special weekly magazine edition. There might be no price on the empty front page, but it does cost money, especially at the weekend, when you get lots more blank pages. Bossman is an artist by trade. He insists on the proper processing of the newspaper, has it run off the presses, neatly stacked in bundles and delivered properly to its handful ofcustomers. He decided to publish a newspaper without ink because he was concerned that readers suffer far too much stress through `information overload' in today's world. Mr Bossman wants to celebrate a global day without news, where programmes on radio and television transmit silence all day! SHOWS: TINBURG, HOLLAND. 7/04 Exterior "Em de Jong" Printers; interior presses printing daily newspapers, pullout to WS interior; worker stacking regular newspapers; SOT Hans Bossman, chief editor, (Dutch) "The reason why I produce this newspaper is a direct result of the information overflow that people are subject to. This overflow, the resulting uneasieness when people are unable to cope with this much information, they get information stress, is what I am trying to convey, to 'materialise' by this blank newspaper"; Hans at the printing machine, takes a fresh copy of the paper and unfolds; VS printing no-news paper; Subscriber Marieke van der Schaar reading no-news paper; SOT Marieke van der Schaar (Dutch) "It's a very nice newspaper.
