Production-wise, this is up there with my favourite recordings of any I’ve yet done - very happy with the audio. The video, though… sigh. I had grand plans for a spectacular outdoor setting more befitting this beautiful Split Enz tune. Oh well. We recently ordered a gimbal for my wife’s new mirrorless camera, as she wants to get into videography; unfortunately it arrived after all non-essential driving was ruled out, so we gave it a test blast around the house with the girls. It’ll help us preserve the memory of this very unique time in history as a little summary of the stuff we’ve been doing to amuse ourselves during isolation – playing outside, schoolwork, baking, exercising, photo shoots etc. First time using the gimbal so plenty of learning yet to be done, and I was pretty lazy with the editing, but the end result is not without its charm. A rare not-entirely-solo effort on this one! Featuring my dear & talented friend Luke Thatcher on V-drums. Otherwise it’s me playing / singing / mixing / mastering everything.
