Previously, he served as the President of the United Nations Security Council (2001 - 2002), Singaporean Ambassador to the UN, as well as Permanent Secretary at the Foreign Ministry of Singapore (1993 - 1998). A philosopher by training and storyteller by nature, Mahbubani has written various books surrounding Asian and Western geopolitics—his latest open-access book, The Asian 21st Century (2022), reaching over 3 million downloads.
