As we continue living in the valley, we’ve realized we need to understand it better—so we started a valley nature class. We invited Professor Zhu to guide us: to learn how to recognize what’s around us, and to live here with respect while still going about our daily life. The kids often play by the stream, and the risk of snakes coming close is real. We wanted to reduce that risk—but not through capture or conflict. Instead, we chose a gentler way: we went to the market with the children to choose geese, brought them back to the valley, and let them roam near the stream to help guard the area. This became the most real kind of nature lesson—where the children’s compassion, love, and empathy naturally showed through caring for life. And now, more and more little animals are part of the valley.
