We worked on this Cat 50 spindle shaft. First, we O.D. grinding first, then he switched it up and took the tailstock out to do a straight I.D. grind. Next we flipped the shaft to do a taper grind on the Cat 50. We held a tight tolerance of -.0001 + .0001 on the entire shaft. That still leaves room on tolerance. Believe it or not, this machine will hold size down to a Micron. Now this shaft is ready to be assembled by one of our very experienced spindle technicians.
