Cebu is one of the most visited islands in the Philippines. It is known for its many waterfalls but also hosts various other attractions. A major reason to visit Cebu would be the Whale Shark watching, which was made possible due to them being fed. It is very impressive to see the gigantic whale sharks swimming past you, definitely one of the most beautiful experiences I ever had. The Tumalog Falls are another major tourist attraction of Cebu. It is a wonderful waterfall that lands in a small pool at where people can go for a swim. It is perfect to be combined with the whale shark watching. Sumilon island is often named to be included in a day trip around Oslob. Sumilon island charms with its sandbar and white sand beach. The truth however is different. The island is mostly private owned and closed to the public. Thus, you only may spend your time at the sandbar when the sun is very strong. There are barely and places in the shade, thus, better do not include Sumilon island; skip it. Simala church is a major pilgrimage site in the Philippines and the holiest place to local Cebuanos. The Philippines are mainly Roman Catholic and the people are still very devoted. You may see the many pilgrims coming to Simala to perform their prayers at the church. It is a very interesting church complex and still is under expansion. All these attractions are touristy but can be nicely combined for a day trip to south and eastern Cebu.
