Hello my dear friends ❤️ Today, I’m sharing one of my absolute favorite recipes: a soft, melt-in-your-mouth Cabbage Pie. I personally love the combination of cabbage and ground beef, but the best part about this recipe is its versatility—you can fill it with leeks, potatoes, or anything you like! The dough is incredibly soft and easy to work with. Whether for breakfast or a cozy dinner, this savory pastry is a crowd-pleaser. Let’s get started! Ingredients For the Soft Dough: ½ cup warm water ½ cup warm milk (or extra water) 1 tbsp dry yeast ½ tbsp salt Approximately 4 cups of all-purpose flour For the Filling: 200g ground beef 300g cabbage (shredded) 1 onion (chopped) 1 carrot (grated) 1 clove of garlic (minced) Salt, red pepper flakes, black pepper 1 tsp turmeric For the Topping: Egg yolk Sesame seeds Instructions: Prepare the Dough: In a bowl, mix warm water, milk (or the other half cup of water), yeast, and salt. Gradually add the flour and knead until you get a soft, non-sticky dough. Cover and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size. Prepare the Filling: While the dough is rising, sauté the chopped onion and ground beef in a pan. Add the grated carrot, shredded cabbage, and garlic. Cook until the vegetables are softened. Stir in the salt, red pepper flakes, black pepper, and turmeric. Let the mixture cool down completely. Shape the Pastries: Once the dough has risen, divide it into small pieces (about 50g each, or smaller if you prefer). Flatten each piece with your hands, place a spoonful of the filling in the center, and pinch the edges together to seal. Second Proofing: Place them on a baking tray, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let them rest for another 15-20 minutes. Bake: Brush with egg yolk and sprinkle with sesame seeds. Bake in a preheated oven at 200°C (390°F) until the tops are golden brown. Note: Every oven is different, so keep an eye on them while baking! Enjoy your soft and savory homemade pastries!
