Well, I think the most important lesson to learn with the horses is to become more aware, more consciously aware of what's actually happening in the dynamic, in the biodynamics between our bodies and, and their bodies. Uh, it sounds arrogant and righteous, but there's so much more going on between humans and horses than people realize. Uh, and very often good training is defined as the ability to fix problems or solve problems. Uh, what we're working on today is, is getting right into the level of, the deepest level of cause. And so that's becoming self-aware of how my body is influencing the horse all the time. Uh, if I were to define the number one mistake, and it's unconscious, uh, that people make with horses is that we're working with energies, and there's only three energies, and those three energies are pushing energy, blocking energy, and drawing energy. So to you, with the camera, for anyone watching this, this is my chest pushing towards the camera, this is my chest drawing away from the camera. This would be my hip drawing away from the camera to invite you in. This would be my hip pushing you away. That's pushing away, that's inviting in, and that's blocking energy. Those are the three energies. Blocking energy is a boundary, just like this fence. That's blocking energy. The opening here is drawing energy. So to answer the question, what's the number one mistake people make? Of the three energies, to send pushing energy, or impulsive energy, towards the neck and head of the horse, the number one cause of most problems is someone sending pushing energy to the neck and head of a horse. Um, I'll demonstrate what not to do. This is me pushing the head of a horse, and you just saw that reaction. Pushing can be a shoulder, pushing can be a leg, pushing can be a hip, pushing can be the center, pushing could be the hand reaching out. But sending pushing energy from any part of our body towards the neck and head of a horse, in their language that's defined as aggressive, that's defined as bullying. It causes passive horses to turn away and leave. It causes passive-aggressive horses to get into nipping and conflict and pushing us with their shoulders. And it causes aggressive horses to be rearing and striking. So the number one thing to be aware of if, if... As you're watching this video, visualize that you're the head of the horse and I just pushed you. The head should only be drawn to invite it in or blocked as a boundary, but never pushed. Pushing heads psychologically is defined as aggression. It's defined as being a bully. Physiologically, in terms of biochemistry, when we create movements in the head, horses moving their head instead of their body, when the head is moving first, that triggers the stress that comes from adrenaline for fight or flight. So it's more than just biomechanics. It's biomechanics affecting biochemistry, affecting behavior, that if pushing energy from our body causes the neck and head of a horse to move, we're producing the adrenaline and we're triggering fight, flight, or shutdown. So that's number one. Don't push into the neck and head of a horse.
