Campervan Adventures in Spain 2026 - Episode 4

Following our campervan adventures in Billy our Autosleeper Warwick XL Spain in January 2026 - episode 4. In this episode start with a beautiful cycling climb in the Sierra Espuna National Park, with incredible views. We then continue inland into the higher mountains of the Sierra Segura. The fields change to almonds groves, then to lavendar fields before finally the wild scenary of the high mountains. We park up just west of Nerpio overlooked by the mighty Castillo de Taibilla. The temperatures had dropped to close to zero, and with severe weather warnings of new storms and snow down to low altitudes we decided we would not be able to do our planned bike rides and it would be more sensible to retreat back towards the coast. We drive down to a beach parkup near Cala Panizo, Pulpi just south of Aguilas to enjoy the sun. We then play golf at the incredible Aguilon Golf Course where we lucky to play with a lovely couple from Canada, Roberta and Tim who knew the course and then invited us to join them the next day at Desert Springs Golf Course. With the continued stormy weather we had to change our plans to go to the Gorafe Desert and instead headed down to Cabo de Gata via the beautiful Andalusian white mountain village of Mojacar, where we explored on foot the narrow streets and had a coffee. In Cabo de Gata we did a short bike ride in the crazy wind, broke a spoke on the bikes before we hunkered down for a couple of nights at a camping aire to hide from the worst of the storms.
