Campervan Adventures in Spain Episode 5

In this episode we start just north of Almeria in the Tabernas desert famous of being used as the filmset for many Westerns movies including the 'spahetti' Westerns and more recently Game of Thrones. We hike the canyon trail and imagine the 'indians' lining up on the top of the cliffs above. We then head down to the coast and visit Castell de Ferro where Chris's dad was born, a real trip down memory lane and childhood holidays. It has changed loads with so many more villas and apartments. We then head inland from Almunecar to Otivar in the mountains where we ride a section of the Goat Road, an old trading route between Almunecar on the coast and Granada. We climb high into the Sierra with amazing vistas, but battle strong headwinds. We then drove down along the coast to Malaga and play golf at La Cala on the Europa course with a couple of lovely Danes. After golf we head north into the mountains once more, with the intent of hiking the Caminito Del Ray, but weather and circumstances changed that and instead we visit the amazing town of Ronda with its famous bridges. We then visit Setenil de las Bodegas, one of the famous Andalucian white mountain villages with its houses built into the canyon walls and the overhanging rocks.
