Rajasthan Diaries Day 2: Full day exploring Jaisalmer, the Golden City of Rajasthan. Today we visited: 🏰 Jaisalmer Fort (Sonar Quila) - One of the few living forts in the world where 3,000 people still live. Built in 1156 from golden sandstone, it glows in the sunlight. 🛕 Jain Temples - Seven interconnected temples inside the fort, built between the 12th-15th centuries. Hundreds of intricately carved statues and breathtaking architecture. 🏛️ Patwon Ki Haveli - Grand merchant mansions and the narrow lanes of old Jaisalmer where local families paint Ganesha on their walls when there's a wedding. 🌊 Gadisar Lake - A 14th-century water reservoir with a beautiful gateway built by a royal courtesan. Peaceful boat rides and stunning architecture. ⚱️ Bada Bagh - Royal cenotaphs (chhatris) in the desert where Jaisalmer's maharajas were cremated. Golden domes rising from the sand. 👻 Kuldhara - The abandoned village cursed for 200 years. In 1825, 1,500 people vanished overnight and never returned. The ruins stand empty to this day. 🏜️ Sand Museum - A quirky modern attraction with sand sculptures, mirror illusions, and themed exhibits. Jaisalmer is magic. Golden sandstone, ancient history, mystery, and beauty everywhere you look.
