Brief information about Village Luxembourg The village of Luxemburg is located in the Isyk-Ata district of the Chui region of Kyrgyzstan, 2 km west of the district center and the railway station of Kant. The Bishkek - Issyk-Kul road passes through the village. History: founded in 1925 by descendants of German Mennonites. Named after the German revolutionary Rosa Luxemburg. Some facts about the village: By the early 1990s, Luxemburg had a secondary school, 3 kindergartens, a community center, a library and a department store. The villagers were among the first in the republic to install running water and natural gas in their homes and other buildings. Luxemburg had the only breeding farm for breeding Alatau cattle and the Austrian Swiss breed imported from Europe. In 2024, the Luxembourg aiyl aimag (the villages of Luxembourg and Kirgshelk) was annexed to the city of Kant, after which the latter was given the status of a city of regional significance.
