Exploring Estate Sales & Antique Shops for Vintage Treasures!

We’re freestyling today, and there’s one lone estate sale in town! We’re stopping on our way through Clarksville, Arkansas, at a contemporary home that doesn’t show a lot of antiques in the pictures… but there’s a Hull vase we’d like to score, so let’s give it a shot! There’s a trick to shopping a sale where most of the items are new. We’re hunting for things that stand out as old, along with items that might be unique (even if newer), like regional art, studio glass, and pottery. This house has a few of those items and a lot of antique furniture that is well-priced but too big to take with us. However, we’re happy to find a nice Bohemian glass wine bottle and a Royalty chalice! Still craving a solid vintage fix, we spot the perfect place right off the freeway—Antique Addictions & Collectibles, an antique decorator mall outside Conway. A good omen greets us at the entrance—the beloved Arkansas favorite, the Bluebird of Happiness! This shop is packed with Arkansas pottery we love, including Camark (featuring a scarce corn liquor jug), Dryden, and Niloak, plus a vast selection of McCoy pottery. There’s so much variety here! Hartmann Tweed luggage, a mini Swedish Dala horse, a golden Anthony mushroom, an Empoli chalice, and fab ’50s, ’60s, and ’70s kitchenware all go into our growing pile at the counter. Booths overflowing with tools, garden décor, brass novelties, Fenton glass, and Blue Danube dinnerware offer endless temptation for vintage junkies. Unexpected treasures—Skookum dolls, Descoware and Le Creuset, a 1920s good luck swastika quilt, and a carved walnut tamborette—open the door to new collecting ‘addictions’! From flip-top chess and sewing tables to a quirky castle-shaped scent bottle, a 1960s purple glass cocktail punch set, and furniture made from Jack Daniel’s barrels, this shop keeps the surprises coming. Burmese kolaga curtains, Victorian girandoles, a wild Czech art glass doctor figure, saddlery, and a Treasure Craft water barrel—there’s no shortage of collector thrills here.
