The fourth talk of the Elementary lecture series is given by Professor Santanu Mukherjee of the Organic Chemistry Department of the Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru. In this lecture series, we will be hearing from renowned chemists, who are actively involved in research with the idea of introducing and learning about new and upcoming fields in chemistry. Abstract of the Talk A few basic aspects of organic stereochemistry will be discussed in the backdrop of asymmetric synthesis. A few case studies on the use of catalysts in controlling the stereochemical outcome of a reaction from Prof. Mukherjee’s laboratory will be presented to demonstrate the applications of some of these basic principles. About the Speaker Prof. Santanu Mukherjee is an Associate Professor at the Department of Organic Chemistry of the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. He is a fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry and the Associate Editor of Organic & Biomolecular Chemistry. His research group is interested in the various aspects of asymmetric catalysis, with emphasis on the development of new catalytic enantioselective transformations.
