Final lift recording for the 2023-24 season :’-( This is the upper section of the base-to-summit Wild Blue Gondola, added in summer 2023 for Phase 3 of the Full Steam Ahead project. The top of this section sits right next to the top of Sundown and Sunshine Expresses. This is also the faster of the two sections, designed to run at 1378 fpm (7 m/s) because this section is nearly 3 times as long as the first section, at 12243 feet long. This section has 27 towers, totaling to 37 conical towers for the whole system. This section also has the largest direct drive in the world, featuring a massive 68,000-lb six-ring Doppelmayr Direct Drive at the bottom. The lift crosses over two lifts: Thunderhead Express after passing by Greenhorn Ranch, and Burgess Creek about halfway up. The lift briefly descends down before entering the top terminal to provide clearance for cabins crossing over the traverse to Storm Peak. Estimated speed in this recording is 1164 fpm.
