Sarah Studer, Maria Kolby-Wolfe, and Joanna Boisen speaking at Be Bold Now Seattle 2024. Sarah Studer Sarah Studer, is the Chief Storyteller at TrueMedia.Org, a non-partisan AI project combating disinformation in political campaigns by identifying manipulated media. Previously, she was the Director of Platform and operations at Techstars Seattle Accelerator, supporting 60 early-stage companies during her tenure and driving community engagement throughout the Seattle startup ecosystem. Earlier roles include managing entrepreneurship programs at the University of Washington (including the annual business plan competition), and overseeing Impact Hub Seattle, a coworking space for social entrepreneurs. Sarah's civic engagement includes board positions at Seattle City Club, Women's Funding Alliance, and Emerging Practitioners in Philanthropy. She believes in the importance of voting, volunteering, donating blood, and shopping at small local businesses. Maria Kolby-Wolfe Maria Kolby-Wolfe is President and CEO of Washington Women’s Foundation (WaWF) and an instructor at the University of Washington in Nonprofit Management. Before guiding WaWF Maria performed a variety of development and communication roles at Northwest Immigrant Rights Project, Seattle Symphony, Path with Art, ACT Theatre, Museum of Pop Culture, and Swedish Medical Center Foundation. She has served as a board member for TeamChild, Rainier Valley Food Bank, Allied Arts Foundation, and Global Leadership Forum. Maria grew up in Bellingham, WA, graduated with a BA in English from the University of Puget Sound, and achieved doctoral candidacy in African American History at Northwestern University. Her passions and beliefs align directly with her work: Food, Art, and Justice for All. Joanna Boisen Joanna Plichta Boisen is Davis Wright Tremaine’s first Chief Pro Bono & Social Impact Officer. In this role, she leads and oversees the firm's acclaimed nationwide pro bono department, creates entrepreneurial and novel flagship initiatives, and procures cutting edge, high-impact matters that change the world for the better. She maintains her own pro bono practice focusing on BIPOC communities, Holocaust survivor reparation litigation, domestic violence advocacy, and income-eligible nonprofits. Joanna also serves as outside counsel to in-house legal departments interested in building out and developing sophisticated pro bono core priorities and social impact flagship initiatives. Prior to joining DWT, Joanna was a partner and chair of the tax-exempt organizations group at one of Seattle's leading law firms where she founded and developed an award-winning, nationally recognized pro bono program and served as that firm's first pro bono counsel (and then first pro bono partner) for 12 years.
