#WastebyRail #BluebellRailway #NorthernExtension In the late 1960s around 100,000 tons of domestic waste was dumped in the cutting just south of Imberhorne Viaduct. This has blocked the route of the Bluebell Railway's extension from Kingscote to East Grinstead, where a connection with the main line network will be made. The following appeal videos gives more detail... • Видео So far most of the waste has been extracted by rail, arriving and departing northbound via the main line connection to various landfill sites north of London using Class 66 diesel locomotives and up to 20 MLA wagons. Five periods of digging and extraction by rail have taken place, moving a total of 82,882 prior to the final week of WBR5 and leaving just one more week of digging required so enable enough waste removed to make a single track cutting through the tip. I wanted to catch these movements on video before trains finished, this video shows the Thursday of the scheduled final week, the penultimate day of working. However although the waste trains are nearly at an end there is still a large amount of clay that needs to be removed southbound and used on the railway. This alongside work required on the cutting and the laying of the track means funds are still required. If you feel you would like to donate please visit... http://bluebellrailwaytrust.org.uk/su... Also keep an eye on the main Bluebll Railway page... http://www.bluebell-railway.co.uk/blu... as the Bluebell have been accepted for the 'Big Give Christmas Challenge' are donations between the 5th and 9th of December will be matched pound for pound. More details on the above page. My video first shows the empty working passing through Dormans station, behind Class 66 no.66722 'Sir Edward Watkins' and then running round at East Grinstead before pushing half the wagons down over the viaduct to be loaded. We then see clips of the loading work at Hill Place Farm Bridge, the northern end of the cutting, with the first clip being taken back in March of this year which helps to illustrate the progress made! Look out for the bunting running left to right, it is there to warn of the overhead power cables but in this case serves as a handy reference point. The video ends with a short clips from Imberhorne Lane Bridge, the south end of the cutting, looking north back towards East Grinstead.
