Got a deal on a DE89 style razor that looked cool from AliExpress.com... that was too cheap to pass up. We'll try it, and then I stumbled across some Mystic Water Soap and decided to take that Yaqi 2-band for another spin. Razor and Blade Notes - Yaqi - DE89 Black ::: Gillette - Silver Blue (5 uses): Good shave. Typical DE89 chatter, but good cutting. Not as smooth as most of the other razors I gravitate toward. This one was so cheap at an 11.11 sale, that I couldn't pass it up. Black coating, and brass handle. May give to my son for fun and pretend shaves with me. A competent shaver. I just have better. Soap Notes - Mystic Water Soap - Sandalwood: Scent: a higher, more pungent, part of the woody scent is on this sandalwood, without as much in the mid-range, to my nose. Makes it similar to the long-gone AoS Tallow Sandalwood or Fine Accoutrements Santal Absolut. Both of which I love as well. So this is a winner Sandalwood to me. Scent Strength: 5/10, adequately present during shaving. Lather: Fine performance as usual from MWS. This was a slick, well-hydrated mix. Too hydrated, which is why I had to go back to the tub a little. Okay glide with the razor and nice protection. 30 + 10 sec load with firm badger brush 4 tsp water to build the lather = 6 passes of lather. Lather was very workable, slick, including nice lubey rinses ... but for a creamier experience, I may want to back off on the water a bit and mix this one drier than my usual. Brush Notes - Yaqi - 2-Band Badger Barber Pole 24mm (2 uses): Doing well. backbone is still there and I hope it relaxes a little. Tips softer. *Shave Quality* During the Shave Feel: Cheeks: A little irritating Neck: A little irritating After the Shave Closeness: Cheeks: Near BBS - About as close as I'll ever get Neck: Cut flush to where I just see the tips (above average for me)
