And Today is truly special — our first-ever McLaren review! So as your favourite car storyteller on Youtube, we’re going to over the full history of the brand from Bruce McLaren’s life and legacy, all the way to this: the new 750S Spider! Because to understand this car, you have to understand the man. Bruce #McLaren was a Kiwi, a racer, engineer, and dreamer — and everything McLaren has achieved since stems from his sheer determination to make an impact. From battling Perthes disease as a child and spending years bedridden, to becoming the youngest F1 race winner in history by 22, and founding his own team at just 32. The famous quote “Life is measured in achievement, not in years alone” could not be more fitting. That sense of purpose still runs through everything the company builds today. Whether it was the 1981 MP4/1 — the first F1 car with a full carbon monocoque — the car that truly shaped F1 today! Or the McLaren F1 road car that followed in the ‘90s with a central driving seat and BMW V12 — McLaren has always moved the world forward through engineering. Later, they again showed what they could do with the jointly made Mercedes SLR McLaren - but that wasn’t enough. McLaren needed its own series, with its own DNA. And so the 12C arrived with its carbon monocoque ushering in the new “Super Series” of #supercars! Followed closely by new halo P1, the 650S, 675LT, 720S, and the brutal 765LT. Each one refining the same formula of lightness, precision, and driver connection. And now the 750S feels like the car that unites them all. Looking at our 650S, we all assume it’s just a lightly updated 720S — but that’s a huge understatement. McLaren say around 30% of components have changed, and my dive today will show you exactly how. The car is 30 kg lighter, 30 PS more powerful, and most importantly, it feels far more alive and emotional. Under the rear deck sits the 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 (now with lightweight pistons from the 765LT, faster-reacting turbos, and a shorter final drive ratio) gives 750 PS and 800 Nm. The new stainless-steel exhaust is now lighter and higher pitched, making this the best-sounding non-LT McLaren ever made. The steering is quicker, the front springs softer, the rears stiffer — and the suspension itself is a new generation of McLaren’s ProActive Chassis Control, Version 3. The result is one of the most beautifully balanced setups you’ll find in any mid-engined car. The design changes may look subtle, but everything serves a purpose. The front splitter is sharper, the headlight “eye sockets” are narrower with new ducts for cooling and aero, and the active rear wing is 20% larger but cut in the middle for better visibility. The Spider also gets no extra bracing thanks to its MonoCage II tub — so it’s just as rigid as the coupe. And the roof, super quick to open and close. Inside, everything is familiar but refined. You now get Apple CarPlay, faster graphics, and the new Artura-style drive mode toggles mounted on the instrument binnacle. The McLaren Control Launcher, or “Kiwi button”, lets you save your perfect setup with one tap. The lift system is twice as quick now too — up in four seconds — which is genuinely useful day-to-day. And it’s still a proper pure McLaren — no hybrid motors, no extra weight, no dilution. Just carbon, turbos, and a focus on connection: In today’s video we’ll cover: • The story of Bruce McLaren and how it shaped this brand • McLaren’s racing-to-road evolution from F1 to #750S • A full walkaround, tech and chassis deep dive • Comparisons with 720S, 765LT, and Artura • A look ahead at the next LT and upcoming W1 Hypercar • The new interior tech and usability • Driving review • Exhaust sound and roof The 750S Spider is more than an upgrade — it feels like the first Super Series that doesn’t leave you waiting for an LT. It’s lighter, faster, and more emotional than before, with the comfort and usability to make you want to drive it every day. For me, it’s F1 in your hands — and a perfect way to begin our McLaren story here on RBR! :) ⸻ Follow us: Raz – / rokenr Jamie – / shotbyjamieb RBR – / removebeforerace TikTok – / rokenr CREDITS: Love my special effects?
