Stir and Heat: Continue stirring the mixture while adding the rest of the ingredients. Place the saucepan over heat and bring the mixture to a very light boil. Simmer: Immediately reduce the heat to a low setting and allow the sauce to simmer for 30 to 45 minutes, stirring occasionally.
