Many of his compositions such as 500 Miles High, Spain, Humpty Dumpty, Windows, Got A Match and Armando’s Rumba have become recognised as modern standards, forming part of the musical education of many musicians across the world. Chick Corea started his professional career in the early 60’s, playing with the likes of Art Blakey, Herbie Mann, Mongo Santamaria and Stan Getz and most notably moved onto playing with Miles Davis in the late 60’s. The use of electronic instruments in Davis’s band had a huge influence on him, and which he made great use of in his ground breaking fusion band ‘Return to Forever’, which he formed in 1972 with Stanley Clarke on bass, Airto Moreira on drums and percussion, Flora Purim on vocals and Joe Farrell on saxophone and flute. He originally recorded ‘Night Streets’ on the 1976 album ’My Spanish Heart’, which combined influences from Latin music and Jazz fusion. The album features extensive use of classic electronic synthesizers such as the ARP Odyssey, Minimoog, Polymoog and Moog Model 15 modular synthesizer along with the Fender Rhodes and Yamaha Electric Organ, combining them with traditional acoustic instruments like piano, brass section, violin, string quartet, double bass and latin percussion. ’Night Streets’ featured the instantly recognisable drumming of Steve Gadd, a musician that Chick Corea would perform and record many albums with during the course of his career. This recording takes inspiration from a live performance of ‘Night Streets’ by the ’The Corea/ Gadd Band’ in Foggia, Italy on 6th November 2017 ( • "Night Streets" - The Corea / Gadd Band ). The wonderfully dynamic performance features some incredible improvisation from the band and is a masterclass in interplay between musicians. The band are: Chick Corea - Keyboards Steve Gadd - Drums Lionel Loueke - Guitar Steve Wilson - Saxophone Carlitos del Puerto on bass Luisito Quintero - Percussion
