Running for the first time, Coldride Cranbrook is community building fat bike event that promises cold temperatures, warm vibes and a big challenge across two different distances: 55km (The Freezie) and 130km (The Big Chill) courses. On Saturday, February 1st, likeminded fat bikers from all over gathered together in Cranbrook BC to tackle a massive two-wheeled adventure through a winter wonderland of epic Rocky Mountain scenery. It would be my very first winter ultra race, and it exceeded my expectation in both challenge and enjoyment. Beyond being a cycling race, Coldride is committed to providing an inclusive, safe, welcoming atmosphere with a focus on supporting locals causes. This year, event proceeds were distributed to the South Star Trail system in Cranbrook, along with other local charities. I can't recommend this event enough! "Coldride Cranbrook is eternally thankful to be able to recreate and explore the beautiful traditional and unceded territory of the Ktunaxa People, whose Oral Histories have connected them to this land since time immemorial."
