Recipient of the Tipperary-Cahir-Cashel MD Cathaoirleach Awards 2025: Tipperary Town Revitalisation

Councillor John Crosse nominated Tipperary Town Revitalisation noting how this group has worked tirelessly to transform Tipperary Town's mindset, unite pressure groups, and secure national government funding, all aimed at fostering positive economic development and revitalising Tipperary Town. The Tipperary Town Revitalisation was established in 2020 to address the many issues that have impacted on the development of Tipperary Town. This group has developed and oversees the implementation of a Strategy and Action Plan to revitalise the town. The committee is made up of eighteen members from the community & voluntary, state and private sectors, and meets monthly, supplemented by several working groups that drive projects and the implementation of the Strategy & Action Plan. Tipperary Town Revitalisation and its partners and stakeholders are working to deliver numerous projects in the areas of Enterprise, Social Inclusion, Education, Public Realm and the Environment. One notable initiative is the €5 million redevelopment of Dan Breen House, and its transformation into a Youth and Education Centre. Additionally, the Tipperary Engine Digital Hub, funded by Enterprise Ireland and Tipperary County Council, was successfully completed in 2023, featuring significant refurbishments. This hub and business centre have played a crucial role in the town's economic development and is currently operating at full capacity with 15 businesses.
