This trail starts from the Kalama Horse Camp Trailhead, near Cougar, Washington, in the Southwest area of Mount St. Helens. The morning I went on this hike turned out to be rainy. I waited a bit to see if the clouds would pass, but finally decided to start despite the rain. There are several trails that start here- I’d love to go back and hike them with Steve. The landscape is dynamic, having had a forest fire on the opposite side of the river in 2022 and a couple fairly recent landslides on the north side where I was hiking.
