Ginetta G40 GRDC Track Day Experience Blyton Park Mike Demo Laps 18 Jan 2019

On board footage from 2 Demo Laps with Mike Simpson at the end of the day on the Ginetta Track Day Experience in their G40 GRDC championship car at the Blyton Park test track near Gainsborough. 1.8 Ford Zetec engine with 135bhp in tubular spaceframe chassis with fibreglass bodywork weighing 860kg makes for an agile and entertaining car to drive. Circuit was short and twisty with a varied combination of corners that really allowed the handling capabilities of the car to be fully experienced. Mike did a 1.13.5 lap to compare to my best of 1.18.6 - so plenty of room for me to improve! Most of the time he gained over me was by absolutely monstering the chicanes - and then by maximizing the later/harder braking and release phase for higher corner entry speed - plus then getting back on the throttle earlier and controlling the car on the limit of the tyres adhesion on the exit....Every day is a school day!
