(4 Sep 1999) Albanian/Nat Five people, including several children, were injured late on Friday when two explosions rocked an apartment complex in central Pristina. The first explosion occurred shortly before 11:00 pm. on the third floor of a five-storey apartment building. The blast shattered several windows in the building and slightly injured five people, including at least three children. British peacekeepers and U-N police and firefighters cordoned off the area following the initial blast. About 30 minutes later, a second explosion rocked a neighbouring building. No injuries were immediately reported. It was unclear who or what caused the explosions, but an ethnic Albanian, who gave his name only as Shar, said the apartment where the first blast happened belonged to a Serb family, but is now inhabited by ethnic Albanians. Sofije Aliaj moved to the apartment with her husband and six children a few months ago, because their house in the Kosovo countryside was burned during the fighting. She had just put her children to bed when the first explosion occurred. Three of them suffered cuts from shards of broken window glass. SOUNDBITE: (Albanian) "Some of us we had injuries from broken glasses. Three of my children are wounded and the three others were left in the house. I don't know what happened to them. During the explosion, my only fear was about my children and for a second, I had a vision of the 4 months we spent in the mountains during the NATO airstrikes with suffering and fear, but even here we don't have any peace and they don't leave us alone."
