I haven't made a video in a while and as this is one of my favourite puddings ever, I decided to film the recipe! This pie was born in New York (Brooklyn to be precise), at Four and Twenty Blackbirds. Nigella then slightly adapted the recipe and included it in her book 'Simply Nigella'. I've eaten both the New York version and this version, and they are both delicious! The best advice I would give would be to have good sea salt (I use Maldon), and don't use the cheapest honey. Sometimes it's fine to use the budget/own brand ingredients, but as honey is the star of the show it needs to be a fairly decent one here. For the pastry you will need: 225g plain flour 1/2tsp fine sea salt 125ml light and mild olive oil 60ml full-fat milk For the filling you will need: 100g soft unsalted butter 150g caster sugar 1 x 15ml tbsp fine polenta or cornmeal 2tsp sea salt flakes 1tsp vanilla paste or extract 250g good runny honey 3 large eggs 150ml double cream 2tsp cider vinegar 1/4tsp extra salt, for sprinkling If you like this video (or any of the others) please give them a like/comment/share!
