In Pennsylvania and across the Appalachians, The Nature Conservancy (TNC) is managing and stewarding forests for resiliency. Dynamic forests are critical for protecting biodiversity, ensuring clean water, providing above-ground carbon storage and offering outdoor recreation opportunities. With support from the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation and through a collaboration with Bethlehem Authority, TNC is using best-in-class conservation practices—including controlled burning—to restore a dynamic forest restoration block near the Long Pond Complex in Monroe County, Pennsylvania. By managing the forest canopy and removing invasive species, we are creating healthier habitat for birds and native species to thrive in. Education and outreach are key components of this work, and the public is welcome to visit Hauser Nature Center and the Long Pond Complex to see the benefits of this restoration firsthand. Special guests: Kevin Yoder, Director of Land Management, TNC Pennsylvania/Delaware Ben Chase, Conservation Forester, TNC Pennsylvania/Delaware Emily Tramontano, Land Steward, TNC Pennsylvania/Delaware Learn more at nature.org/Pennsylvania Videography by Natural Light Films, LLC Thank you to our supporters: American Bird Conservancy, Bethlehem Authority, Monroe County, Indiana University of Pennsylvania, William Penn Foundation Funding provided by the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation
