God said, "Build it!" So Horace Burgess did. The Minister's Treehouse.

Building began in 1993 by Horace Burgess who claims that God came to him in a vision and told him to build a treehouse. Horace worked on it for 12 years. The 97 ft tall treehouse was supported by an 80 ft white oak tree, and relied on six other trees for support. It was closed by the state on August 30, 2012, for fire code violations. On a very cold and rainy day in early 2019 I explored and took these photographs of the Minister's Treehouse. I was pressed for time and could only stay about 30 minutes, but I vowed to come back and explore it further. Sadly, on October 22, 2019, the tree house completely burned to the ground in less than 15 minutes under unknown circumstances.
