Make a Rock Climbing Hangboard! - DIY In this video, we will go through the process of making a Hangboard for Rock Climbing Training. This Hangboard has multiple slots in it for different numbers of fingers, 2 deep and shallow 4 finger, 2 deep and shallow 3 finger, 2 deep and shallow 2 finger, and 2 deep and shallow 1 finger slots. There are also 2 ping slots on each side, one is for a wide pinch grip, and the other is for a narrow pinch grip. On the top are 3 different slope angles for training sloped holds. The process of making the hangboard starts with rough walnut and maple lumber. The table saw is used to make the boards the correct width. The walnut board is then taken to the band saw to be resawn, this will create a bookmatched pair of boards. The walnut then goes through the planer to clean up the band saw cuts and to thickness the walnut boards. After this is done, the bookmatched walnut can then be glued onto the maple base board. After the glue has dried, it is sanded and then it is time for the CNC Router to do its job. I use painter's tape and super glue to hold the wood down as the CNC Router cuts, this technique works very well in place of using clamps. After the CNC Router has done its cutting, the hangboard is then final sanded and sprayed with lacquer. I do 2 thick coats on each side, each "coat" is 4 light passes from each direction to ensure that everything gets finish on it. Thanks for watching!
