In this video I shall discuss with you a silent features of a draft of National Education policy (NEP) 2019 of India. This video is very important for those who wants to start teaching as a career and also equally important for those who are working in education field. I shall give you my level best some important recommendations made in the draft of NEP 2019. In my previous video I have discussed the key recommendations of NEP 2019 for School Education. In this video we shall see key recommendations for higher education. Before watching this video please watch my previous video of which the link is given below. The link is here • National Education Policy 2019 School Educ... 1) Making undergraduate programmers interdisciplinary by redesigning their curriculum to include a) a common core curriculum and (b) one or two areas of specialization. Specialization as ‘Major’ and an optional area as ‘Minor’. 2) Subjects such as Arts, yoga, music, sports community service etc. are included in the curriculum. 3)It will aim to develop several 21st century skills like scientific temper, multilingualism, critical thinking, digital literacy, social responsibility. 4)Restructure higher education with three types of institutions. Type-1: Focused on world-class research and high quality teaching. Type-2: Focused on high-quality teaching across disciplines and contributing significantly to research. Type-3: High quality teaching and focused on undergraduate education. This will be driven by two missions namely ‘Mission Nalanda’ and ‘Mission Takshila’. 5) It propose to setting up an independent authority National Higher Education Regulatory Authority (NHERA). 6) It recommends setting up a separate National Assessment and Accreditation (NAAC) from UGC into an independent and autonomous body. 7) Four-year undergraduate programs in Liberal Arts will be introduced. 8) Five Indian Institute of Liberal Arts will be setup as model multidisciplinary institutes. 9) A National Repository will be setup to maintain all records related to institutions, teachers and students in digital form. 10) A single online digital repository will be created where copyright-free educational resources will be made available in multiple languages. 11) Higher Education Institutions must also offer vocational courses that are integrated into the undergraduate education programs. 12) To promote Indian languages, a National institute for Pali, Persian and Prakrit. 13) An Indian Institute of Translation and Interpretation (IITI) will be setup. 14) Public and private institution should be treated as equal and education should be not for a profit activity. 15) Substandard teacher education institute will be shut down and move all teacher preparation institutes to multidisciplinary institutes. 16) University grant Commission(UGC) transform into Higher Education Grant Council (HEGC). These are the recommendation made by draft of National Education Policy 2019 in India. In my next video I will discuss plus and negative points of the policy.
