Remains and Hittite texts suggest the site was known as “Dalawa” by the 15th–14th century BC, long before the classical Lycian period. Over the centuries, Tlos evolved through multiple major cultures: Lycian Era: A leading city within the Lycian League and rich in its own traditions and mythic connections (notably to the hero Bellerophon).
